I need some urgent help form you guys regarding buying a new car. To be frank, this is the first ever car am gonna buy and hence i dont have much idead about which car performs better, which is good for long distance drive, which is best as per space, etc.. Hope you guys getting me. Well, my prime requirement is a diesel car under 5 lakh INR. Could you guys please suggest me few best cars in this criteria ?

The best my opinion is Maruti Suzuki Swift (Diesel). I personally love this car as per its performance and style. It also suites your requirement as it is a diesel car that is available in range of 4 to 5 lakhs, depends on its model. The 1.3L engine is extremely fuel efficient as it produces 75 bhp in the diesel version along with predictable fuel economy as 11/13 km/l (city/highway). There are 3 models available in these ranges that are LXi, VXi and LDi. I’ll suggest to for it!

You have made the right decision to go with diesel cars. In India, because of the constant increase in petrol prices, diesel cars are getting more popular and important. Well, Swift is indeed better as per your requirements but as an option, there is Tata Indica V2 available as a diesel version at the starting price of 2.6 lakh INR. There is no compromise on power, protection, and handiness. But as a best alternative of Swift, you also have option of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA. It is available between ranges of 4.24 lakh ro 4.68 Lakhs approximately.

Well, all these replies have helped me to decide in choices but apart from these, if want to go with non-diesel cars (I mean Petrol version) than which one will be better? I got some options from my friends like Hyundai i10 and Chevrolet Spark. Which one is better among these?

Hyundai have the routine of designing cars with attention value. Similar to the new Santro, the i10 appears like nothing else in promote. i10 squint headlamps are consists of little front grille and big air dam that are completely different from Hyundai’s conventional designs that permit a doubtful large grille. The front package comes out as a clean and neat design unlike the Spark. The starting cost of Chevrolet Spark is 3.25 lakh where Hyundai i10 starts at Rs 3,41,000 INR.

i dont think any diesel car will come under 5L on road, may be if tata comes out with nano 800cc,

yaa one more new tata indica ev2 CR4 diesel that can cost u upto 5L

I would suggest that better you increase your range for getting a diesel car, because for affording a diesel car you should have a budget that is atleast of 7 Lakhs. You can get the car of Hyundai i20 Diesel which is the best in this category and also the maintainence of the car is also just awesome.

As per your budget you can get a maruti Suzuki RITS LDI which will cost you around 5.2 lakh. well its good fro you that you had decided to go for the diesel as day by day petrol prize is getting hike.

You can select zen Estilo, Maruti WagonR or Maruti Santro zip depending on your personal liking. All three cost less than Rs. 5 lakhs and are good on economy and comfort.

Hyundai i10 Diesel engine

At the moment, Hyundai i10 Diesel is offered in foreign markets with a 1.1-litre turbocharged CRDi diesel engine that generates 75PS @4000rpm and 153NM of torque at 1900-2750rpm and matted by a 5-speed manual transmission.

At the moment, the Indian market is rushing towards the diesel market and the sales compared from Petrol to diesel have a ration of 40:60 and which could still go up to 30:70 (petrol: diesel) sales.

Hyundai i10 Diesel will directly compete against the Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Liva Diesel and other competitors.

Beat Diesel, I cant write here about it but just trust me and buy it. I have done all research. Now a days there is no discount but if you can wait till year end, you would get amazing discounts also.

If this is your first car, you should go with Maruti or Hyundai.

If you need diesel and the budget to be < 5lacsex-showroom, you only have to get maruti Rits or Swift - Hasle free ASS and very easy to maintain

I would also suggest you consider Beat diesel(though its bit cramped and not very spacious at the rear) or Vista (very spacious, absolute VFM if you not bothered about its boxy looks or taxi look alikes).

go for Chevrolet beat diesel...

Interesting reply. IS swift diesel available below five lakhs? Why are you suggesting LXi and VXi petrol models to him? Only 11 and 13 Kmpl( city , highway ) fuel efficency?
