Tata Indica Turbo AC Cost of Subros Condenser

Just wanted to know if anyone has idea of cost/expenses for replacing/fixing the Subros condenser of Tata Indica Turbo AC. All of a sudden the AC stopped working and service center people say that condenser will be restore which will cost Rs. 15000/-, which seems to be really high to me. There is a leakage sound that can be heard when they tried filling the Nitrogen gas to check. I checked in the market and the condenser is for Rs. 2300/- only. Now I donít know who is genuine?

I don't think the entire assembly would need to be replaced. In case of gas leakage, as stated by you, only the condenser core would need to be changed - and NOT the condenser fan (must be in good condition). The price of 15K quoted to you should be for the entire assembly (with labour). The core would cost about 7-8K & fan 5-6K. The same from outside would be cheaper by 40% or so (original Subros in the open market). Please take a second opinion - consult a couple of AC mechanics/specialists.

15 months back, i was quoted 18K for Zen Compressor & assembly, I got the same done outside from one of my known guy & he managed for 7K. A/c still working wonderful in Ahmadabad climate. You must get atleast 3 opinions before you are sure of the trouble you are facing.

We enquired in another Tata service center and the cost quoted was around Rs.10000/- I wonder how come two authorizedv dealers quoting different cost of condenser. After all, it is showed in the bill. 2 other mechanics told expenses of around 4500/=, but I am not sure how genuine they are. One of them told that if the pipe is replaced then only 1800/- will be incurred. I am really fed up of our Tata car problems. Sometime back the rear shocker was replaced and now the AC. Was planning for a TD of Manza saffire, but have now decided not to go for Tata cars.
