TDi engine i think your mentioning about TATAs TDi. TDI means TURBO engine and Dicor is direct injection common rail (CRDI). So DICOR is better as it is direct injection with turbo and turbo is only turbo with indirect injection

Thanks for the explanation. Is DICOR engine fitted in INDICA cars? If no does TATA having plans to provide it in near future. Is TATA DICOR engine as good as one present in HUNDAI and MARUTI.

Well the DICOR engine is not present in Indica. And Tata has plans for DICOR Indica and that may be launched maybe around 2008 or 2009. All new shape Indica is really good. i have seen its pictures last month.
At the same time TATA is also considering a car which is bigger than Indica and smaller than indigo. So it’s a mini indigo. Indica with small boot. To get the excise duty benefit Tata has been working hard on this and the car is less than 4000 mm.

Tata Indica is available with DICOR Engine. I purchased the same in 1st week of June 2008.It is excellent engine. Mileage, pickup, noise all are at its best. In fact I am getting more than 20Km/ltr on highway. Driving comfort is also very good.

The motor tube is charged with a totally different technology CRDi.
The turbo is used to compress the air entering the combustion chamber so that more air can enter the cylinder and air means more oxygen which means better combustion. These days the turbo is accompanied by cooler air, chilled air to reduce the air density, but does not affect the compression of air.

    The 6-cylinder 6.0 L is the equivalent of 4-cylinder 4.0 L turbo engine.

Now, the common rail diesel injection system is an intelligent system that saves the amount of diesel in the combustion chamber and fuel direct released into the chamber through a nozzle to reduce the chances of delay, and better efficiency.

DICOR engine of Tata is Technically *superior and efficient than TDI engine. I have owned Tata Cars with Dicor and TDI engine and I would recommend TDI engine is more dependable and is trouble free and maintenance free. In short TDI engine is more validated for Indian Conditions. Incase of DICOR engine starts give trouble you will have nightmares and will be a strain to your purse. DICOR engines have injectors (each cost around Rs 9000-4nos) they tend to get blocked due to the adulterated diesel and other Indian conditions. Once the engine gets opened the first casualty are the injectors which invariable requires changing and thus all the savings on account of fuel efficiency goes into thin air. Tatas are using TVS*
DELPHI fuel injection system in DICOR engine which is not suited for Indian condition. The FIAT engine which is being used by
Swift, Desire, Manza and Vista more reliable because they are using the BOSCH fuel injection system which is more reliablel*
